Arsenal are now close to reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig for the signing of striker Benjamin Sesko, according to a report from CaughtOffside.
Sesko is one of the most in-demand strikers in world football after an impressive spell in the Bundesliga. At the age of just 22, the Slovenian forward has already established himself at the top level, and he still has plenty of room to grow and fulfil his potential.
Signing a new striker was always likely to be a priority for the Gunners in the summer transfer window. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are currently Mikel Arteta’s main two options through the middle of attack, but both players have struggled to score goals consistently. Arteta’s lack of options even meant Mikel Merino was forced to lead the line at times during the 2024/2025 campaign.
Arsenal Close to Agreement for Benjamin Sesko
Close to a compromise at £64m
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Arsenal could now be edging closer to reaching an agreement with Bundesliga outfit Leipzig for the signing of Sesko. It’s understood that the two clubs may be nearing a compromise for a fee of around £64m, despite Leipzig initially looking for around £69m.
Reports had previously suggested that a deal for Sesko was stalling due to his wage demands, and it remains to be seen if Arsenal are any closer to agreeing on personal terms with the Slovenian international, who has been described as ‘elite’. Adding a new striker would be hugely beneficial for the Gunners, especially after no player scored more than 10 Premier League goals for them during the 2024/2025 season.
Arsenal fell short in the Premier League title race to Liverpool, and signing a new centre-forward could be what they need to go to the next level and bring a trophy to the Emirates Stadium once again.
