“He has improved alot and that’s why we decided to call him back”: Man United’s coach Ruben Amorim has recalled former Man United’s player back to replace Jadon Sancho next season after the star had a fantastic season with his new club

Manchester United are increasingly confident that Mason Greenwood will significantly boost Ruben Amorim’s transfer budget by leaving Marseille this summer, according to reports.

The 23-year-old forward is set to be under the microscope when Marseille travel to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 next Sunday.

Greenwood left United for the French giants in a £27million deal last summer after spending the 2023/24 season on loan at La Liga side Getafe. The Red Devils may have cashed in on their youth product but made sure to include a hefty sell-on clause worth up to 50 per cent of a future sale.

And that could be the key to unlocking a summer of much-needed spending to help Amorim reshape the squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Barcelona and Real Madrid join PSG among the European heavyweights in the hunt for Greenwood’s signature this summer.

Scouts will reportedly be in attendance when Marseille visit Paris later this month, where another impressive performance is expected to cement his status on multiple transfer wishlists.

It’s claimed that United are confident Greenwood will complete a move away from the Velodrome that would massively contribute to Amorim’s transfer aspirations.

The England international has registered 19 goal involvements in 26 appearances for Marseille in all competitions, attracting interest across the continent.

He is said to be likely to depart the club if the opportunity for an upgrade arises once the summer transfer window opens for business.

Marseille will have a strong negotiating position if they receive offers for Greenwood after tying him down to a five-year contract worth £73,000 a week.

The report adds that a Premier League return appears to be off the table, but he is open to playing in Spain again after his successful loan spell at Getafe.

Amorim will require player sales to fund improvements in several positions before his first full season as United boss, but several outgoings are already all but confirmed.

Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are primed to leave as free agents once their contracts expire in July.

Jadon Sancho will also join Chelsea in a £25m deal as part of his season-long loan agreement. Meanwhile, Aston Villa have a £40m option to sign Marcus Rashford at the end of his temporary stay.

Tyrell Malacia, Antony, Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund are among the other first-team players on the chopping block.

However, United will reportedly listen to offers for all senior players as part of an aggressive rebuild in an attempt to drag the club out of its rut.
