HERE WE GO: Arsenal break Chelsea transfer record, agree to pay £150million to sign an aggressive Premier League striker as the striker becomes most expensive transfer signing in Premier League’s history

Arsenal have held exploratory talks with Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane’s representatives over a summer move, journalist Charles Watts has revealed.

The Gunners have reportedly identified the Germany international as a potential reinforcement on the wing and an alternative to Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, who is now in talks to join Manchester United.

Sane appeals to Arsenal as a low-cost option this summer, as he is set to be available on a free transfer should he fail to agree an extension with Bayern.

Sane would bring considerable Premier League experience to the Emirates, having spent four seasons with Manchester City and won two league titles.

The Germany international joined Bayern in the summer of 2020 and has been an instrumental part of the Bavarian giants’ frontline, making 220 appearances, scoring 61 goals and providing 55 assists.

Sane is believed to be open to a return to England, and London in particular, as he wants to remain close to his family after spending five years in Germany.

Arsenal could face competition from North London rivals Tottenham for the ‘world-class’ 29-year-old, whose potential availability has also put the Europa League winners on alert.
