HERE WE GO: Arsenal have finally reached the full agreement to sign the best striker in the world as the superstar arrives in London to complete his medical today

Arsenal could finalise a deal for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in the coming days, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

Mikel Arteta’s side continue to work towards reaching an agreement for the 27-year-old and are making steady progress in negotiations with Sporting.

The Gunners have so far been unable to agree on the payment terms for Gyokeres, with Sporting demanding a €70m fixed fee plus €10m in add-ons, but a solution is still expected to be found.

Gyokeres is believed to have already agreed a five-year contract with Arsenal and is prioritising a move to the Emirates, despite interest from other Premier League clubs.

The Sweden international was also offered to Manchester United via intermediaries in recent days, but would reportedly prefer a switch to the Emirates rather than a reunion with his former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Arsenal had hoped to seal the deal for Gyokeres before they flew out for their pre-season tour of Asia on Sunday, but were unable to reach an agreement with Sporting over the payment terms in time.

Gyokeres has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the past two seasons, scoring a staggering 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese club.

He led Sporting to a league and cup double last season and made his Champions League debut, netting six times in eight appearances.

Arsenal are believed to have earmarked Gyokeres as their priority target up front, having shifted their focus to finding a new striker following four new arrivals at the Emirates.
