HERE WE GO: Manchester United finally agree a huge transfer fee to hijack Arsenal and Chelsea transfer as striker snubbed both clubs for Manchester United’s move

The north London giants are focused on landing RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and remain optimistic of securing a transfer agreement over the coming weeks.

If Sesko were to join the Gunners, it could open the door for United to pursue Gyokeres, who had a good relationship with Amorim during their time in Lisbon.

Amorim will be aware of the situation and sees the possibility of reuniting with the Swede, who has established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe.

Still, he won’t come on the cheap for the Red Devils. They will have to pay £68 million to prise him away from Sporting CP. The price is non-negotiable for now.

Manchester United are likely to sign a marquee striker during this summer’s transfer window.

The Red Devils were interested in landing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town earlier this summer, but the Englishman chose to join Chelsea.

United have since been linked with Hugo Ekitike and Victor Osimhen, but O Jogo (page 13) claim that Viktor Gyokeres remains on the radar.

Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim played a big role in his development at Sporting CP and has not ruled out a reunion at Old Trafford.

Despite the significant advance of Arsenal, Amorim has ‘indicated’ to the United officials that he has not given up on signing the Swedish striker.

United could get free run at landing Gyokeres
The 27-year-old had a sensational 2024/25 campaign with Sporting CP. He registered 54 goals and 13 assists from 52 appearances in all competitions.

Gyokeres has his sights on moving to the Premier League, preferably with Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta’s side are yet to make a formal approach for his services.
