“Although I really need Gyokeres but Ruben Amorim has another preferred striker and I can’t opposed him”: Manchester United’s owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe names Ruben Amorim’s preferred striker and it’s not Gyokeres

The next few months are expected to see plenty of transfer speculation when it comes to Manchester United.

The summer transfer window is just a couple of months away from opening and already United are being linked with several potential new signings. It remains to be seen, though, which players will turn out to be genuine targets to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad for next season.

Away from transfers, United are still dealing with the aftermath of their 1-0 defeat to Wolves in the Premier League at the weekend. United’s main focus for the remainder of the campaign will be the Europa League, where they will face Athletic Bilbao in the semi-final early next month.

Here, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.

Viktor Gyokeres ‘update’

United have reportedly learned of Sporting Lisbon’s latest stance regarding the future of striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sweden international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months, and a report from Portuguese outlet A Bola has claimed that Gyokeres could move to the Premier League this summer.

MEN Sport says: Gyokeres has been linked with United for some time, and it should be no surprise to see other clubs mentioned as having an interest in his signature. Whether United will have £60million to spend on a new striker this summer remains to be seen, but if they do, they would be wise to do their best to convince Gyokeres that they are the club he should be joining.
