HERE WE GO: Manchester United’s bid for £143m striker has been accepted as deal advanced to final stage

Manchester United have been handed a transfer boost after a shock upset in the final day of the Bundesliga season.

For the Red Devils, the only thing that matters this season is beating Tottenham in the upcoming 2025 Europa League final on Wednesday evening.

Lifting the trophy in Bilbao means a huge financial boost and qualification to the Champions League next season.

It has been known for months now that Ruben Amorim’s only hope of reaching Europe is winning the Europa League as Manchester United’s Premier League form has been terrible having slumped down to 16th in the table.

While United are at risk of missing out on European competitions, over in Germany it has been confirmed that RB Leipzig will miss out after a shocking collapse in the Bundesliga.

Door opens for Man United to sign RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons

Leipzig ended the Bundesliga season with no wins in their final five matches. A 3-2 defeat to Stuttgart on Saturday means they have finished seventh – outside of European qualification.

As reported by Bild, Leipzig star Xavi Simons is set to leave the club this summer with the German outfit planning a summer rebuild of their squad.

United have scouted Simons this season ahead of a potential summer deal, and now everything is falling into place.

Reports suggest Simons is valued at £67m this summer with his current Leipzig contract valid until 2027.

United wanted to sign Simons under Erik ten Hag, but it seems the 22-year-old Dutch star would also be a good fit for Ruben Amorim’s system as one of the two No.10s in his 3-4-2-1 system.

Man United may have to go head-to-head with Liverpool for Xavi Simons
With Xavi Simons expected to leave this summer, United are not the only club showing an interest in his signature.

United may have to fight Liverpool for Simons, with the Merseyside club also showing a keen interest in a summer deal.

Recent reports suggest Liverpool are closing in on Florian Wirtz, which could end their pursuit of Simons and hand United a significant boost to their chances.

But at £67 million, it would still be a huge deal for United to complete, and it would likely rely on the Red Devils qualifying for Europe.

That means beating Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday. As if any more pressure was needed.
