HERE WE GO! Player completes Arsenal medical ahead of six-years deal as the Gunners first January transfer signing is ‘100% ready’ for unveiling

Arsenal are yet to make a signing in the January transfer window.

Indeed, the Gunners haven’t been active at all this month, despite being linked with a number of targets.

Arsenal have been linked with so many strikers it’s become difficult to keep count.

Indeed, Arsenal have been linked with Evan Ferguson, while Dusan Vlahovic is also an Arsenal target.

However, despite all of the chat around a new striker arriving at the Emirates, the Gunners’ first signing of the winter could well be a new midfielder.

Sverre Nypan has been linked to Arsenal, and according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, this deal is now close to being done for around £12m.

Kay shared what he knows about Nypan and Arsenal.

According to the journalist, Arsenal are close to getting this deal done, and while Nypan was at the Etihad earlier this week to watch Manchester City, that was a leisure trip rather than a transfer-related visit to Manchester.

“My information, you know, I’m hearing Arsenal are close and advanced and the most likely club he’s going to go to is Arsenal,” Kay said.

“The person who has told me that, they’re very reputable indeed. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t.

“I’m not hearing anything really Man City based. He was at the Etihad to watch the Chelsea game with Erling Haaland’s agent, but I’ve heard he was on his way to a training camp in Portugal and it was just a stopover to see a match.

“While he was there he did have a chat, but my information is that Arsenal have already chatted to him and they’re pretty confident that Arsenal are the team that will sign him off the basis of that chat.

“Transfers are funny things, we don’t know which way it will go, but everything is pointing towards Arsenal. I’m hearing it will be around £12m for the player.”

Sverre Nypan stats last season
Nypan is ready to make a move in this winter window as the Norwegian league has come to an end.

Indeed, Norway’s footballing calendar is slightly different to the majority of Europe, and it’s currently their off-season.

That means we can fully assess Nypan’s last year’s worth of performances, and it’s fair to say they were very impressive.

15 goal contributions from 28 appearances is a remarkable return for any midfielder, let alone an 18-year-old who is just starting out.

Of course, if Nypan does come to Arsenal he will be linking up with his international teammate, Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard has actually spoken to Nypan about this move, and, by the sounds of it, this young man could be an Arsenal player before too long.
