Zirkzee came off the bench against Arsenal and scored the winning penalty in the shootout, quickly turning his fortunes around.

And there was one moment where he embarrassed highly-touted Arsenal centre-back William Saliba.
Zirkzee nutmegged Saliba once, and then did it a second time, leaving the Arsenal defender in a crumpled heap on the floor.

Former United defender Gary Neville posted on social media to reflect on Joshua Zirkzee’s turnaround, and how pleased he was to see him step up and take the crucial penalty.
In addition to that, those little moments where he nutmegged Saliba twice, where he got hold of the ball and almost scored an extra-time winner, and created chances for his teammates, will make him feel like a real part of Ruben Amorim’s team.
Neville wrote: “To step up to take the final pressure penalty yesterday at the Emirates is exactly the response you want to see from a player when something like that happens and you could see the reaction from the other players toward him and what it meant.
“It will have been a rough moment for him the other week and he still has a long way to go but scoring that penalty and hearing the United fans singing his name was a great pick me up moment for him.”
