Brighton defeated Man Utd again with a 3-1 win at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler is ‘sure’ Manchester United will improve under Ruben Amorim after they lost again at the weekend. United have now lost seven of their first fifteen matches under the Portuguese head coach and could have no complaints about their 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

It means United have now lost seven of their first 12 league games at home for the first time since 1893-94, leading Amorim to admit he is in charge of possibly the worst team in the club’s entire 147-year history. A huge improvement will be required if United are to somehow salvage what has been a hugely disappointing season, with a daunting double header against Rangers and Fulham ahead next week.

Hürzeler savoured his first managerial visit to Old Trafford at the weekend but refused to rub salt in the wounds of his ‘world class’ opponents after the win. Asked if he sensed a nervousness in United before the match, he told reporters: “I wouldn’t say that.

“They have all individual quality, they are world class players, we as a team came from not a great phase, we had a lot of draws, you have to stay strong, make the self belief, doubts never help and we really tried to focus on ourselves. I am sure Ruben will find a good solution.”
