“I want to join Arsenal but on ONE CONDITION”: Arsenal’s top striker target has given the Gunners ONE condition which they must meet if they really want him
Benjamin Sesko’s agent has said he expects the Slovenian striker to stay put at RB Leipzig this month despite strong links to Arsenal following Gabriel Jesus’ devastating ACL injury.
When quizzed on whether Sesko could cut it at the Emirates, Sesko’s representative Elvis Basanovic responded on Slovenian TV channel Arena Sport that the 21-year-old is likely to remain in Germany.
He said: “I think you should ask Mr. Arteta about that. But I think Sesko could suit many clubs because he has different football skills. He can play alone in attack, with two strikers, a little further back, he has height, speed, technical speed.”
Basanovic remained tight-lipped when probed about current interest from Arsenal, merely stating: “I can’t answer that question for you.”
With a lengthy Leipzig contract lasting until 2029 which lacks a release clause, it appears Sesko is off the table for a January move. While Arsenal’s interest lingers, they reportedly feel Sesko is out of reach this window and are scoping out other options.
The agent also shared that any future club change for Sesko will need to be the right one for him to realise his immense potential.
The decision by Sesko and his circle to shun Premier League offers ahead of Euro 2024 was taken with a cluster of clubs at the ready and Arsenal’s interest remains.
“We can see that our decision was correct, six months later he is already a better striker than he was last season. What he lacks is experience. We must not forget that he is only 21 years old, so we did not want him to go to the Premier League in the summer.
“There were concrete options, but we consciously decided to stay in the Bundesliga to give him time to progress and develop into a better striker.”
When pressed about a potential price tag for Sesko, Basanovic continued: “I don’t think Leipzig would be satisfied with any compensation at the moment, Leipzig does not want to sell Benjamin Sesko because they really value him immensely.”
