Sports Desk: During a football match, lightning suddenly struck the field, due to which one player died while many players including the referee were badly injured. The seriously injured players and referee were immediately admitted to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

The case is of Peru where on November 3, a match was going on between two domestic clubs Juventud Bellavista and Familia Choca based in Chilca. This accident happened during this time. 39-year-old Jose Hogo was struck by lightning and died. This accident happened when the first half of the match was going on. During this time, Juventud Bellavista was leading 2-0 in the match. The weather turned bad during the match, so the referee blew his whistle and stopped the game. Also the players were asked to leave the field.

When the players were leaving the field suddenly lightning struck. This lightning fell on 39-year-old player Jose Hugo de la Cruz Mesa. He died. Due to lightning, 5 players including the referee fell to the ground together. Even before, a footballer has died due to lightning. 40-year-old goalkeeper Juan Choka was seriously burnt in this accident. There are burn marks on his body. After the lightning, 1-2 of the players who fell on the ground even tried to get up. All these injured players are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

This is not the first incident of a footballer’s death due to lightning. In February this year, a friendly football match was held at Siliwangi Stadium in West Java, Indonesia. Then 35-year-old Septen Rahraja died due to lightning. Rahraja was injured in the incident and was admitted to the hospital, where he died.
