Medical Completed: Manchester United has just completed another transfer signing as the player arrives Manchester for medical

Manchester United have made contact with the agents of Marco Carnesecchi about a potential move to Old Trafford this summer, according to Sky Sports Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Red Devils are looking to rebuild their squad for manager Ruben Amorim after a terrible 2024/25 campaign that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final to Tottenham, leaving them with no European football for the upcoming season.

United have already moved to strengthen their attack, but have now made their opening move for a new goalkeeper amid question marks over the future of Andre Onana.

Could replace Onana who is wanted by Monaco

According to Di Marzio, Man Utd are considering allowing current number one goalkeeper Onana to leave the club after a poor season at Old Trafford which included a string of high-profile errors.

Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are said to be showing the most concrete interest in the Cameroonian, who earns £200,000-a-week currently, and United have identified Atalanta star Carnesecchi as their top candidate to replace him should he leave.

The 24-year-old, who has been described as ‘one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers’, enjoyed a fantastic campaign for the Serie A club as they qualified for the Champions League with a third-place finish, and United have now made contact over a potential deal to take him to Manchester.

Initial talks have taken place between Man Utd and his representatives, but not yet between the two clubs. Atalanta do not want to sell their 6ft 5 number one unless they receive a ‘truly satisfactory’ offer.

It’s also been reported that Man Utd are keen on signing Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to replace Onana, with Fabrizio Romano exclusively revealing on GIVEMESPORT that the World Cup winner has already said yes to a move to the club.

Villa are believed to be demanding at least £40m to let him leave as they look to raise funds due to FFP concerns, but it seems that nothing can happen until the first domino regarding Onana’s future falls.
