Arsenal’s dream of winning the Premier League title is all but over.
The Gunners pushed Manchester City for the title in each of the last two seasons but fell just short in the end. This time, it looks like they will finish a long way off Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta’s side are already 11 points behind the Premier League leaders, and although the North Londoners have a game in hand, we just can’t see a way back at this stage.
That has led to some criticism directed towards Arteta, but Rio Ferdinand is not having any of that.

Arteta has done a remarkable job at Arsenal over the last few years.
The Spaniard took charge of the mess Unai Emery left behind in December 2019. It was a poor squad and the atmosphere in and around the Emirates was as toxic as we’ve ever seen.
Despite that, Arteta won the FA Cup and the Community Shield in his first year and has since built one of the best teams in the world.
Arsenal have competed for the Premier League title for three seasons in a row now, and although they haven’t won it yet, they are significantly better than where they were five years ago.
Some Arsenal fans have decided to ignore everything Arteta has done for them and the club and have started calling for his head after the defeat against West Ham.
Ferdinand can’t believe it.
He said in a video on his YouTube channel: “You get people saying they want Arteta out. It’s a disgrace, really, for me.
“I’ve seen a lot of your fan base start saying that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. I think he has done a wonderful job there, not being able to have a number nine striker.”
Some people are completely ignoring one thing about Arteta
Everybody was frustrated after Arsenal’s defeat to West Ham United last weekend, and that’s completely understandable as the title race is all but over.
However, demanding that Arteta be sacked is one of the most foolish things anyone can do.
Arsenal have had so many injury issues this season and to make things worse, several key decisions have gone against them, resulting in dropped points.
Despite that, Arsenal were on a 15-game unbeaten streak before losing to West Ham last weekend. That is a stunning achievement from Arteta considering the circumstances.
If Arsenal sack Arteta, he will be snapped up by one of the biggest clubs in the world before the Gunners can even think of a replacement.
The Spaniard is among the best managers in the world, and losing him would be terrible for Arsenal.
