HERE WE GO: Manchester United agree deal to sign another attacker after Viktor Gyokeres deal collapsed

Premier League side Manchester United are ‘close’ to signing Valencia midfielder Javier Guerra this summer, according to Daniel Longo.

The deal came out of nowhere but has some legs with several outlets confirming the Red Devils are interested in the 22-year-old central midfielder.

Guerra broke out at Valencia this season, bagging three goals and three assists in 36 La Liga appearances as a number eight in the engine room.

He has attracted interest from heavyweights like AC Milan and Man United.

Guerra carried those terrific performances into the Under-21 European Championship, where he starred as Spain reached the finals, captaining his side.

Unfortunately, they lost the final to England.

Guerra’s blend of technique and physicality makes him a perfect fit for the Premier League.

He has an eye for a goal and can create while being a neat distributor with ample room for improvement.

Valencia boss Carlos Corberan praised Guerra as a player ‘who can make a difference’.

It looked like he was on his way to AC Milan before Man United entered the race, and we wait to see whether the Red Devils can bring him to Old Trafford.

Other reports have claimed that while Manchester United hold interest in Guerra, he is reportedly waiting to see the offer Valencia will put on the table.

It remains unclear how Guerra will fit into Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 set-up, which does not allow room for a roaming eight like Guerra.

Amorim has struggled to fit the talented Kobbie Mainoo into his tactical scheme.

He could face the same issue with Guerra, who has the same profile as the Man United academy graduate.

The Man United midfield is crying out for two sixes, one to hold and another who can play a slightly more advanced role.

Guerra does not tick the box, and United may be forcing another square peg into a round hole.
