The 41^o Authentic Athens Marathon captivated the eyes of the planet for another year – OPAP’s dynamic presence as the Major Sponsor of the event for 14^or year

Thousands of runners of all ages, from 152 countries of the world, once again flooded the streets of Athens, as part of the 41^u Authentic Marathon, organized on the weekend of November 9 and 10, with OPAP as the Major Sponsor.

The more than 70,000 runners, who took part in the races, lived a unique running experience, which will be unforgettable for everyone.

Mass participation in the 10km OPAP and the 5km Universities Night Run OPAP

The first starts were given on Saturday with the 5km and 5km Universities Night Run OPAP races, with participation of students from 110 universities all over the world.

The action culminated on Sunday, with the Marathon Road of 42,195 m, and the 10km OPAP race, which had massive participation.

The winner of the classic course was Charalambos Pitsolis with a time of 2:18:56, while among the women Stamatia Noula was the one who cut the thread first, finishing with a time of 2:40:18.

Support of OPAP in the effort of all runners

OPAP, which has been a Major Sponsor of the Authentic Athens Marathon for the last 14 years, was once again on the side of the participants this year. Before the races, both on Saturday and Sunday, the runners had the opportunity to warm up properly with the warm up sessions organized by OPAP in Zappeio, while the Quilombo percussion group gave them the rhythm to reach the finish line.

OPAP also had surprises in store for visitors to the Sponsors’ Village. In the impressive dome of the company, the history of the Authentic Marathon “came alive” through an exciting interactive experience that became a pole of attraction.
