Viktor Gyokeres is on both Arsenal and Manchester United’s radars this summer, and would reportedly prefer a move to North London. The Swede has scored an incredible 54 goals last season, beating his 43 from 2023/24. He will likely depart this window with plenty of interest, though it is unclear where to, as of yet.

Arsenal Still in Benjamin Sesko Talks
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Gyokeres’ “priority is to join Arsenal this summer”, though he has had calls from Manchester United in recent weeks. Whilst the Red Devils are still keen on the centre-forward, they now believe a deal to be “unlikely” and have already begun to look for alternatives. They have made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike who is valued at £85 million and has interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.
However, Arsenal are still in talks for Benjamin Sesko, who appears to be their target at current. There is “no deal sealed so far”, with the “unstoppable” Gyokeres still an option, and the Gunners “keep assessing the situation”. It appears that either striker could still end up at the Emirates Stadium next season.

The main reason that Arsenal may prefer Sesko is his age: at 22-years-old he has plenty of time to develop, a great amount of years left of playing at the top level, and a strong resale value. Meanwhile, at 27-years-old, Gyokeres is in his prime, but potentially only for a few more years. If he were to significantly underperform, it would be difficult to find a suitor for a reasonable fee.
However, being more mature and in his prime may be a selling point. Mikel Arteta needs to win silverware this season to disprove critics, and signing a player in his prime may be the way to do that. Scoring 39 goals in 33 league games is an incredible record, and he has had similarly impressive tallies in the two seasons prior. Meanwhile, Sesko netted just 13 in the Bundesliga in 2024/25. A more experienced player, Gyokeres may also be less prone to “flopping” under the pressure of playing in the Premier League.
Regardless of which player they sign, the fact that Arsenal look to finally be buying a proper striker bodes well for their season ahead.
