OFFICIAL NOW: Arsenal signed South American tricky winger for a club-record fee of £90m on five-years transfer deal

Real Madrid will help Rodrygo with a “silver bridge” if Arsenal arrive this summer, given their asking price will be €90m.

That’s according to Cadena SER, who cover the situation today and Real Madrid’s desire to move the forward on, if possible, this summer.

They say that Rodrygo is on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu and, according to his entourage, sounding out the Premier League. SER have had it confirmed to them that Arsenal are one of the sides interested in him.

Real Madrid want €90m to let the 24-year-old depart. They plan to use that money to rebuild their midfield for manager Xabi Alonso.

According to Antón Meana, Real Madrid have not yet offered the player to clubs, but “if the opportunity arises, teams like Arsenal will try to make the move”.

They, like other suitors, are waiting to see how this month goes for Rodrygo. So far, it’s proven to be a difficult time under Alonso, who has failed to give him a single minute at the Club World Cup and has players such as Arda Güler and Franco Mastantuono ahead of him.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be a fan of the player and would like him as part of Arsenal’s new look forward line next season. Madrid’s asking price would be a problem, though, something that is being acknowledged in Spain.

“If Madrid asks for €90m, I see it as difficult for Arsenal to pay that amount. If he leaves, it will be in August,” insisted Bruno Alemany.

Madrid are willing to help, though, with Javier Herráez explaining that they will give the player a “silver bridge” to depart. For those that don’t know, this is a Spanish proverb that explains a strategy to avoid major conflicts or facilitate the retreat of an already retreating enemy.

In simpler terms, they won’t stand in Rodrygo’s way and will help make a deal with Arsenal happen.

“If Arsenal call to sign Rodrygo, Madrid will give him a silver bridge,” he added.
