Arsenal are on the cusp of bringing in a new first-choice marksman as Viktor Gyokeres is nearing a move from Primeira Liga heavyweights Sporting, but boss Mikel Arteta would make his side serious challengers for a first-ever Champions League crown by signing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in the coming weeks.
The Gunners have shown a willingness to raid Premier League rivals since the transfer window reopened, with Noni Madueke becoming the latest big-money recruit as he sealed a switch worth up to £52million from Chelsea last week, and they need to prioritise snapping up another England international.

The Gunners have an opportunity to take advantage of a £68million release clause written into the wide forward’s contract, thanks to it reactivating earlier this summer, and there is no doubt that he would form a deadly partnership with Gyokeres and academy graduate Bukayo Saka in a new-look front three.
Eze is Crystal Palace’s second-highest earner, due to being on a deal which allows him to pocket £100,000-per-week, and his form during the 2024/25 campaign highlighted that he would make Arsenal even more of a threat if Arteta has him among his options before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.
Gyokeres is poised to arrive in north London in the coming days, thanks to an agreement worth up to £64million being reached with Sporting, and that will improve the Gunners’ chances of ending their wait for the Premier League title as well as challenging for honours on all fronts.
