Over the past week or so, the Italian media have reported Manchester United are showing interest Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.
Thursday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Red Devils are in contact over a move for the 24-year-old this summer. It was also stated the Premier League club are aware they need €50m to secure his services.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà reports Manchester United ‘don’t give up’ in their pursuit of the stopper.
He states the Italian is ‘increasingly a concrete target’ for Ruben Amorim’s side, so much so that they are ‘ready to present an offer’ worth €40m.
The Serie A side are asking for more to sanction the player’s sale, around €45-50m. According to the journalist, Manchester United can include bonuses to find a solution that satisfies all parties.
In other words, Manchester United have to raise their offer, including bonuses, to find an agreement with Atalanta.
André Onana was the No.1 at Old Trafford for the past two seasons and Pedullà claims his exit is needed for Carnesecchi to join Manchester United. He talks about Saudi Arabia as an option for the 29-year-old Cameroon international.
There isn’t anything concrete elsewhere about Onana leaving Manchester United quickly. Taking this into account, it’s hard to believe the English club, at least for now, is ready to present an offer for Carnesecchi.
