Ruud passed Djokovic in the rankings – ends the year in 6th place

After a long period of weak results, Casper Ruud impressed in the ATP playoffs last week. It took the Norwegian past Novak Djokovic in the world ranking.

Casper Ruud had an upturn in the last ATP tournament of the year.

Ruud beat both Carlos Alcaraz and Andrej Rublev in the pool play in Torino. The Snarøya boy thus secured 400 new points The ATP ranking which was updated on Monday.

The Norwegian thus advanced past Djokovic and now holds 6th place on the list of the world’s best tennis players. Djokovic did not compete in the ATP playoffs due to injury.

Taylor Fritz, who reached the final in Torino, also climbed one place in the last update and took over 4th place from Daniil Medvedev, whom the American beat in the pool play.

Jannik Sinner cemented his position as the supreme world tennis player by beating Ruud in the semi-finals and Fritz in the final after going undefeated through the pool play. The Italian tops the ATP ranking by a clear margin.

Although the ATP season and the fight for new ranking points have ended for this year, Ruud is not completely finished for the season. The Norwegian will meet rival Holger Rune for show fights in Asker and København.

The first fight takes place in the Frisk Askers arena on November 30, while a rematch awaits in Denmark on December 3.
