Olympiacos remains in contention for the eighth round of the League Phase of the Europa League!

Piraeus were held to a 0-0 draw with Steaua in Bucharest for the fifth matchday, although they had the chances to take the win and with eight points they are always strong in the game.

The match does not claim particular laurels of quality, with the team of Jose Luis Mendilibar pressing after the dismissal of Birliga, but not capitalizing on their moments.

The first half was poor, with Steaua waiting back and Olympiacos looking for a way to break down the Romanian defence. There was no classic opportunity for either team, however the two most remarkable moments were for the Piraeus.

A shot by Rodinei in the 19th minute was blocked by Tarnovanou and another by Mouzakitis in the 34th minute, with the young ace not finding the target from the height of the area. On the other hand, the hosts had several finals, but none worried Tzolakis.

In the second half, the hosts showed more willingness to attack, but were still harmless. When Birligea was sent off in the 67th minute with a second yellow card, they came back en masse to keep the tie and they succeeded since Olympiacos couldn't score in at least two very big opportunities.

The first was in the 69th minute when El Kaabi missed from a good position in the area from a turn by Mouzakitis, and the second in the 79th minute with Yaremchuk's header that was impressively saved by Tarnovanu, a phase in which the Ukrainian struck and a change was made in the change.
