HERE WE GO: Manchester United signed 20-year-old prolific winger on a five-years deal

Manchester United could pursue a new goalkeeper from Aston Villa this summer.

The Red Devils had a dismal 2024/25 campaign in the Premier League. They finished 15th in the standings with only 42 points to their name.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana was unconvincing on several occasions. He was guilty of making five errors leading to goals in all competitions.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has now revealed that there are no active talks between Monaco and United regarding Onana.

Onana is not close to leaving the club, and he is happy to continue at Old Trafford.

The reputed journalist added that the Red Devils ‘appreciate’ Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

The World Cup winner ‘would be open’ to joining the club even ‘without Champions League’ football, but a deal is far from straightforward.

The transfer will entirely depend on Onana’s departure to a Saudi or European club. At the moment, there are no concrete proposals for him.

Onana has been vulnerable with his shot-stopping during his two seasons at United.

Despite this, he is not contemplating an exit from the club. He shares a warm relationship with manager Ruben Amorim and expects to stay next season.

The scenario could change if United receive a good proposal on the table. The hierarchy may want to recoup most of the £47.2 million fee paid to Inter Milan.

That could largely depend on an offer from the Saudi Pro League. He was on the radar of Saudi clubs earlier this year, but no formal bids have been made.

Martinez, described as ‘world-class‘ by iNews, has fared better with his goalkeeping, but we are still not convinced that he would provide a significant upgrade.

The Argentine will turn 33 in September this year and has been prone to making errors too. Aston Villa want £30-34m to sanction his sale in the coming weeks.

For the price mentioned, United should swoop for Royal Antwerp sensation Senne Lammens, who has better reflexes, distribution and penalty saving skills.

The Belgian can be signed for £30m and would provide value for money. He is only 22 years of age and has the potential to become an elite shot-stopper.
