TERMS AGREED: Manchester United finally reached agreement to sign a visionary attacker who has more goals than Lamine Yamal this season

Manchester United have already got one signing over the line this summer, in the form of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers – and Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo may be set to follow shortly, according to Ben Jacobs, who has claimed that a formal second bid is imminent for the Cameroon international.

United registered their interest in the Bees star earlier in the campaign, but were given a huge boost in the race to land his signature when he signalled a move to Old Trafford as his favoured destination, ahead of the likes of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, who were all interested in a move for his services.

United went as far as submitting a bid of £45million plus £10million in add-ons for the Premier League star last Thursday, though that bid was rejected by Brentford – but they’ll look to go in for the ‘unplayable’ star’s services again.

And Jacobs has claimed that whilst a second bid hasn’t been placed just yet, there are conversations happening – and a second bid is ‘imminent’ as Ruben Amorim aims to bolster his squad immeasurably in the coming months. Jacobs said on The United Stand:

“There hasn’t been a formal second bid placed yet. But what is happening, is there are conversations around a new number, much closer to the Matheus Cunha valuation.

“And when Manchester United feel that not just that number, but the structure is competitive based on their feedback from Brentford – and all of those discussions are ongoing at the moment – the expectation, and quite imminently, is they will then put that formal second bid in with a higher percentage chance.

“Hopefully from Manchester United’s point of view, that will be accepted.”

Mbeumo bagged 20 Premier League goals this season, with only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland scoring more – and so he would be an incredible talent to bring to the club imminently, despite United reportedly bidding for proposed striker target Viktor Gyokeres.

Only turning 26 in August, Mbeumo already has 42 Premier League goals to his name throughout his career and he’ll be aiming to get his way into the ‘100 Club’ with a move to United, feeding off the creativity of Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo in the process.
