TERMS AGREED: Manchester United top transfer target finally agree personal terms to join the Reds

Manchester United have reportedly held talks with one of the Premier League’s best players of the season as they look to strengthen their ranks ahead of another huge season in the top-flight – with the Red Devils reportedly holding talks with Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils lost the Europa League final last Wednesday to signal their worst campaign in the last half-century. A lowly 15th-placed finish and paltry cup runs means that it’s been a campaign to forget, and now attention must turn to the summer transfer window.

The report by Ben Jacobs on X (formerly Twitter) states that United have held talks with Mbeumo over a potential move after his blistering season saw him end the campaign with an incredible 20 goals in the Premier League, hoping for him to feature alongside Amad Diallo.

It’s thought that the Bees value him at around £50million, with his contract expiring at the end of next season likely to be the key factor behind a move away from the west London club, and his amount of goals is a strong catch for one of the league’s so-called ‘bigger’ teams.

United have struggled for output in the final third this season, with only Everton and the bottom three relegated teams scoring less than the Red Devils, in what has been a catastrophic season by all accounts.

A failure to qualify for Champions League football will hinder their chances of signing some of the best stars on the continent, and so they may have to opt for players from teams who haven’t qualified for continental football, such as Liam Delap – with the Ipswich Town striker reportedly ‘expected’ to join United in the coming summer – and Matheus Cunha, who is expected to sign for United this summer.

Mbeumo falls into that figure, and United holding talks with the Cameroonian international over a potential move to Old Trafford would be a positive move by INEOS and Ruben Amorim after his lightning campaign.

Mbeumo first came into the Premier League four years ago and scored four goals in his debut campaign in the top-flight, but those goals have only increased season upon season – and with Alexander Isak, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah being the only players to outscore him this time around, he sits alongside esteemed company.
