It is possible that in the first half the Irish believed that they could block the English and… stress them for the top of the group – since at the same time Greece was claiming direct promotion to League A – but the “three lions” had a party in second half to reach a commanding 5-0.
And if the first half was such that, despite the fact that it was completely one-sided, it had the Irish not facing big risks for their home team, everything changed and basically… they ended early in the second 45 minutes.
It wasn’t until Bellingham won a penalty from Scales in the 51st minute and his dismissal that England took the lead. The 5-0 was made possible by Southampton’s 22-year-old striker Harwood-Bellis, who curled in a fine header in the 79th minute to complete the scoring, scoring on his debut for the men’s side of his country’s national team.
