Mason (America): World number one men’s player Yannick Sinner and women’s number two Aryna Sabalenka won the titles with straight sets victories in the final of the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament. Both these players became champions for the first time in the Cincinnati Open.
Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-5 to win her first title since the Australian Open in January. Sinner, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Friday, defeated Frances Tiafoe of America 7-6(4) 6-2. He became the youngest player to win the Cincinnati Open title since Andy Murray in 2008.
Murray won the title here at the age of 21. Both Sinner and Tiafoe reached the finals of the Cincinnati Open for the first time. Before this, his best performance here was to reach the third round. This tournament is considered important in connection with the preparation for the US Open starting in New York from August 26.
