Yannick Sinner won Shanghai Masters, Aryna Sabaleka became Wuhan Open champion

Shanghai: Top-ranked Yannick Sinner won the title of Shanghai Masters tennis tournament by defeating 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets here on Sunday. The Italian player defeated Djokovic 7-6 (4), 6-3 by hitting 8 aces and 22 winners. Djokovic hit 4 aces and 12 winners while Sinner did not face a single break point. Djokovic was trying for his 100th tour level title here. Only Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer have been able to cross the century title mark in men’s tennis. Connors has won 109 while Federer has won 103 tour level titles.

At the same time, second ranked player Aryana Sabaleka won the Wuhan Open title for the third consecutive year by defeating 7th ranked Zheng Qianwen in the final by 6-3, 7-5, 6-3. This is Sabalenka’s fourth title this season in which she has also won the Australian Open and US Open Grand Slams. The record of this Belarus player in the tournament has become 17-0.
