HERE WE GO! Manchester United reached agreement with long-term transfer target as the superstar arrived on a five-years transfer deal

Manchester United will hope to bounce back from their Europa League final defeat when they face Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Red Devils were beaten 1-0 by rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the European final in Bilbao on Wednesday night, with Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal enough to earn the Lilywhites a first trophy in 17 years.

Head coach Ruben Amorim has endured a tough start to his tenure at Old Trafford, with United winning just six of his 26 Premier League matches in charge of the club since taking charge in November last year.

That run of form has left United 16th in the Premier League table and, having lost the Europa League final, Amorim’s side will not compete in Europe next term.

Away from the pitch, though, it appears that Man United may soon be handed a huge boost.

According to Football Insider, the Red Devils are set to announce the signing of forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves in the near future.

The report claims that United have activated the £62.5 million release clause in the Brazilian’s contract, with negotiations now said to be at a very advanced stage.

Cunha, 25, joined Wolves from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in 2023 and has since scored 33 goals in 91 games for the club across all competitions, as well as providing 15 assists.

This season the Brazil international has netted 15 times in 32 Premier League games to help steer Vitor Pereira’s side away from the threat of relegation.

That form attracted interest from Man United, and the report claims that a deal is now very close to being finalised.

Cunha’s current deal with Wolves is set to run until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, however the report claims that United have triggered the release clause in the contract.
